Announced in September 2021 during Apple’s “California Streaming” event at Apple HQ, the new iPad mini is Apple’s smallest tablet that features a new design, the latest A15 Bionic chip, a USB-C port and more.
The iPad mini comes with a larger, 8.3-inch Liquid Retina display with a resolution of 2266 by 1488. The display continues to feature True Tone and P3 wide color, and offers up to 500 nits of brightness. It is equipped with the A15 Bionic chip, Apple’s latest A-series chip from the iPhone 13, for up to 80 percent better performance than the previous iPad mini. Cellular iPad mini models also can now connect to 5G for the first time and a Touch ID fingerprint scanner in the top power button.
There is a new 12MP Wide rear camera with an ƒ/1.8 aperture and the front-facing camera also gets a major upgrade, with a 12MP Ultra-Wide camera, featuring Center Stage for video calls. The sixth-generation iPad mini also supports the second-generation Apple Pencil, which magnetically attaches to the side for storage, pairing, and charging. It features the same all-day battery life as other iPads, lasting up to around 10 hours.
The iPad mini comes in three new colors, including Pink, Starlight, and Purple, in addition to Space Gray and retails for RM2,299 onwards.
